What is Circadian Rhythm?

Your Circadian Rhythm is basically a 24 hour internal clock that is also known as your sleep/wake cycle. It’s kind of just running in the background of your brain. It’s constantly reminding you when it’s time to slow down/rest, become more energised. We could listen to it and become Superhumans according to Dave Asprey, who is by the way the biohacking GOD.

Superhuman.Dave.Asprey

I have become somewhat of a mitochondriac someone dedicated to longevity. And after conquering a chronic illness, I can tell you sleep matters. We naturally become more alert/sleepy at certain times. For most adults, the biggest dip in energy happens in the middle of the night (somewhere between 2:00am and 4:00am, when we are usually fast asleep) and just after lunchtime (around 1:00pm to 3:00pm, when they tend to crave a post-lunch nap. Those times can be different if you’re naturally a night owl or a morning person.

Since having my daughter I am always up at around 5.30/6 which many moons ago I would of thought this is the worse thing to happen to me. But even waking up before the sunrises and managing to get in some of those early morning rays is just bliss

If you are a bit sleep deprived you will more likely notice bigger swings of sleepiness and alertness. There are many ways to hack your sleep, including apps to help you monitor if you are getting enough. There’s also a very clever gadget called the Oura ring which monitors your REM and deep sleep.

A part of your hypothalamus (a portion of your brain) controls your circadian rhythm. That said, outside factors like lightness and darkness can also impact it. Also blue light from phones has said to have a negative affect. When it’s dark at night, your eyes send a signal to the hypothalamus that it’s time to feel tired. Your brain, in turn, sends a signal to your body to release melatonin, which makes your body tired.

That’s why your circadian rhythm tends to coincide with the cycle of daytime and nighttime (and why it’s so hard for shift workers to sleep during the day and stay awake at night).

I tend to go to bed the same time most evenings give or take 30 mins this includes weekends. This helps to support your Circadian Rhythm and reset your biological clock.  Irregular sleep is linked to poor cognitive ability, obesity and can even contribute to many diseases including cancers.

There are many things that can and will disrupt your rhythm. Jet lag, daylight savings, maybe a sporting event or a late night out. It’s important to have awareness of how much sleep you are getting and if you get into deficits to catch up as often as you can.

Napping has been proven to be effective, I try to have at least two days in the week where I can nap with daughter Ocean who is currently 14 months old and needs those day naps.It doesn’t always work but I am making it a conscious habit and not feeling any guilt also helps. If Google have sleep pods to help their workers perform better, it’s definitely saying something.

The hours between 4-5pm in the day are also known as the Kidney/Adrenal Hour. Are good times to reflect, go within, recharge with a cup of tea ( preferably not caffeine because this will disrupt the rhythm) I would like to think of this hour being an opportunity for me to just breathe, lay down, get connected to my being as the adrenals are connected to Root Chakra. You could also use this as an opportunity to be in nature.

Living in a very modern world, with many environmental toxins, EMF’s from phones can really disrupt our sleep. One hack I find that really works is no wifi at night. It’s on a timer to go off at 10pm and not come on until 7am. Phone’s on airplane mode whilst sleeping and use your phones night time option. I actually put mine in nighttime option all the time. If you are in front of screens a lot you can invest in some blue light blocking glasses.

Interestingly, your circadian rhythm will likely change as you get older. And you may not have the same sleep/wake cycle as your partner, child or parents.

But the more you pay attention to your body and notice feelings of alertness and drowsiness, and the more time you spend developing good sleep hygiene habits, the better your slumber will be and the better you'll feel.

The Health Benefits of Exercise

We are all know there are many health benefits to exercise I want to share with you what goes on chemically inside your body when you do.

Endorphins are released

• Increases brain serotonin

• Helps to reduce the level of stress hormone cortisol

• Helps stimulate the production of dopamine

• Increases serum concentrations of endocannabinoids

• The protein BDNF is released

• Increases the levels of Gaba

First let’s start with Dopamine. The reward chemical motivates us to take action towards our goals & desires. So if you’re feeling a bit bogged down and slightly apathetic exercising will inspire to move forward and get things moving.

Seratonin

When we have an absence of seratonin, loneliness and depression can easily appear. Motor activity increases the rate and frequency at which seratonin is fired within the brain.

Regular exercise also increases the level of tryptophan in the brain.

BDNF

The protein BDNF has a protective & also reparative element to your memory neurons and acts as a reset switch.

Endorphins

These act as pain killers & help to minimise the discomfort of exercise.

Gaba

Helps to induce a natural state of calm

Cortisol

Elevated cortisol levels increases risk for depression & mental illness. Regular exercise helps to reduce cortisol.

Endocannabinoids

The same ones affected by marijuana THC may reduce pain & anxiety & promote the feelings of wellbeing

Norepinephrine

Low levels of norepinephrine can cause fatigue & mental fog. Regular exercise releases norepinephrine.

Bottom line exercise is good for our physical, mental and emotional health. So find an enjoyable way to make movement a priority in your life as part of your wellness journey and for longevity.

To your health 🥂 because it really is the most important part of this journey

The Health Benefits of Eucalyptus Oil

The Eucalyptus or blue gum tree is indigenous to Australia and has been was originally used as a medicinal herb by the aborigines. The German botanist Von Muller introduced the tree so we can all enjoy, it is cultivated in North Africa, Spain, California and India, as well as Australia.

Therapeutic Properties

I find this oil to be especially effective for steam inhalation. Eucalyptus is a warming and drying oil with excellent antiseptic properties.

Mind

One sniff of this oil and you will be giving your nervous system a much needed boost. It is well known for its refreshing effect and can help with tiredness, poor concentration, headaches & debility. Use in inhalation or fragrance the room.

Respiratory

When cold season hits, this beauty is never far away. The essential oil is especially good for infections of the respiratory tract, such as colds, flu, sinusitis, bronchitis and pneumonia. Because it is warming oil it works especially well if you are feeling chilled. It is also a decongestant and makes an excellent inhalation to relieve over production of mucus. Eucalyptus may also be used to treat asthma. I find it works well in the bath with a few drops of Pine or Tea Tree.

Joints

If you suffer from rheumatism or arthritis, you will benefit greatly from this oil especially if there is a lot of stiffness and loss of mobility and the symptoms are worse when its cold and damp. Try combining with Lavender and Pine using as compress or massage blend.

Infections

As an antibiotic oil, Eucalyptus can be used to treat infections of the urinary tract. Try it when cystitis is brought on by a chill. It is also good for genital infections such as leucorrhoea- dilute it well and use in sitz bath. I always find a cup of bicarbonate soda works well.

The antibiotic properties of Eucalyptus make it helpful in the treatment of skin infections and wounds, herpes and ulcers.

It may be dabbed directly on to the skin to relieve the pain or itching of insect bites and stings. Eucalyptus is also a parasiticide and may be combined with other oils to remove lice. It is anti- fungal, helping to alleviate infections such as athletes foot.

In the case of infections and to fumigate a room you can use as a room spray or use in a burner.

It is also an effective insect repellent, especially if combined with Cypress and Lemon.

Psychological Profile

If you recognise that there’s a time to release, let go or move on, if you recognise it’s time for change but feel a bit apathetic. This is where we become restless, and trapped by the fear of change and lack of direction. This can often lead to mental confusion. Eucalyptus helps you gain clarity and helps you move forward, cutting through the fear and confusion.

How to overcome procrastination in 4 easy steps

Is procrastination stopping you from showing up?

Is social media getting in the way of your productivity?

Are you experiencing scattered thoughts and bursts of energy to do things but get into it then start something else? ( It happens )

I here you.. it only took me 2 weeks to write this post. You are not alone we all do it, tomorrowland is full of life’s empty promises….

In this blogpost I want to get into the heart of what’s happening. What’s stopping you, and my tips to get back on track in no time.

First of all people who procrastinate aren’t lazy, people who procrastinate usually have many things on their plate, it’s a matter of knowing what to do and when to do it and asking for help with the tasks that really don’t light you up. Don’t be hard on yourself, don’t judge yourself or others.

So what gets in the way?

Well... from my experience of what has worked and not worked for me and many of my clients. Creative minds are full of creative ideas. Sometimes even just knowing what to run with first helps. Prioritises tasks and getting started without even an idea of ending, sometimes and definitely speaking from experience “perfection” syndrome kicks in. Many ( including me ) blame timing, not feeling like it, not having everything they need... ( basically loads of excuses because the “ideal” situation isn’t happening) Maybe you will say now isn’t the time, but time is only an illusion it responds to us.

It’s saying well I can’t do it perfectly I am not going to do it at all. I can tell you I wasn’t a perfect writer when I first started writing, I am pretty good at re-writing and work on my writing at every opportunity. I am glad I started and I didn’t put off my writing because it brings me joy. If your highly skilled, but struggling with completely tasks it could be anxiety. I have noticed this in my own life, I had been worrying about so much if my work would be liked, if I would get enough clients, was I good enough really.

I know that even if you do procrastinate it’s not that you don’t care, you care deeply. As a Libra I can sit on the fence. I see this often with clients who really find it challenging coming to a decision. If you get caught up in overwhelm, if you tend to over function and your focus is more on others ( You can check out my Empath post here ) I covered a ton of info to keep you away from the things that drain you, this is also a huge contributor to why we procrastinate. We always need to be aware of our energy but will cover that in how to steps.

If you seem to chronically procrastinate or over think what you need to do, this can easily lead to bad feelings, guilt over doing nothing, and eventually you not starting a damn thing!

Overwhelm, over-giving and over-functioning can also lead to procrastination on things for yourself. We can easily internalise shame, which isn’t a bad thing if we aren’t constantly beating ourselves about the things we should or shouldn’t be doing. If you ever hear yourself talking trash about yourself, you better stop!

I want you to know, that you are enough, where you are is enough, what you have achieved so far in your life is enough. It’s a pretty long ride, if we pace ourselves and enjoy the journey. You have time, we have time. I have seen firsthand what burnout and overwhelm can do to a being. I know the pain and struggle this can bring. So let’s get to the steps you can you take to kick procrastination to the curb instead of kicking yourself for not getting things done?

Step #1

Recognise why you are procrastinating. Just by bringing awareness into it you can recognise why its happening. What happened as a child when you were younger, did you witness your parents procrastinate. We often model behaviour so it could be that if weren’t guided to follow through and encouraged to complete then this can have a big impact on how you behave today.

Step #2

Take Inventory

Where do you procrastinate the most?

What do you procrastinate when it comes to:

• Fitness/Health

• Friendships/Being Social

• Creative Projects

• Work

• Finances

• Love and Dating

• Home

Step #3

Create solutions around time management.

This really works for me.

Some ideas:

• Create a schedule with tasks and timeframes and schedule your least preferred tasks FIRST. This is the Eat the frog concept that if you can do the hardest task first then everything else is easy. Dislike working out. Do it first thing so it’s done.

• Technology is an incredible tool to help with task management. You can set up reminders to help you manage tasks. Yes technology can be a distraction so set up times you are allowed on social media. I have a limit of 2 hours per day.

• Time certain tasks. For instance if you have a big project you can set a certain amount of time each day to work on it. Takes away the overwhelm and is much doable. Progress is the process.

Step #4

Reward yourself. Celebrate your wins.

When you finally complete the tasks you been putting off it will feel AMAZING

I use visualisation techniques to focus on how I will feel. This works at any start of a workout, blogpost, podcast.. you get the picture.

Imagine how you FEEL when you have done. You will be so proud of yourself. You can give yourself a reward, but maybe hold back on the chocolate cake after the gym.

Intention is always everything. Being really clear about what you want will get you the results.

I have seen clients totally committed to transformation so they don’t miss a day ever on affirmations or writing a journal. These are the clients that get changes in their reality much quicker.

Changing the way you do the things and how you feel about doing things is everything. The possibility for your life is opened up. Be committed to change and be committed for you not anyone else. Most people recognise they are sabotaging their own potential to succeed.

Continue to be compassionate with yourself, Even if you doing small things but remaining consistent you will get results. This is where massive transformation happens.

You are creating magic wherever you go.

Don’t doubt it nor hide it. You have the power, always.

Big Love

All disease starts in the gut

Why is gut health so important?

The health of your digestive system or gut is vital to your overall wellbeing. Largely responsible for the critical functions of the body’s digestive and immune systems, the “microbiome” in your digestive system can affect your body’s vitamin and mineral absorbency, hormone regulation, digestion, vitamin production, immune response and ability to eliminate toxins, as well as your overall mental health.

Hidden in the walls of the digestive system is the enteric nervous system- a kind of second brain. Scientific research into this “brain in your gut” is transforming our understanding of the connection between digestion, mood, health and the way we think.

The human microbiome explained

public.jpeg

The microbiome is defined as the collective genomes of microbes, composed of bacteria, bacteriophage, fungi, protozoa and viruses that live inside and on the human body.

The microbiome lives in your gut and the other openings of the body such as the mouth, genitals and nose. 80% of the immune system is in the microbiome. When your microbiome is balanced, you’re generally healthy, in a good mood and have alot of energy. Recent findings suggest that an altered gut microbiome is associated with inflammatory bowl disease and obesity, indicating that the health of the gut’s microbiome should be considered a contributing factor in several common diseases

There are 1000 species in the skin, 500-1000 in the intestines, 60 species in the urogenital tract 25 species in the stomach, 600+ species in the mouth, pharynx, respiratory system.

Unbalanced gut microbiome

Unfortunately, an unbalanced gut microbiome, or dysbiosis is common today. Thanks to years of following diets high in processed foods, consuming non-organic meat and excessive dairy products, taking rounds of antibiotics and antacids and experiencing chronic stress, many of us have impaired gut health and suffer with symptoms of gut imbalance such as bloating, irregular bowel movements, pain and acid reflux.

What effects the gut microbiome?

Birth and Genetics

What have trillions of different bacteria living in our guts and our precise bacterial mix is unique. Our gut bacteria are partly inherited, but are strongly affected by lifestyle and environment. Babies get their first major dose of microbes from their mothers as they pass through the birth canal.

Lifestyle

public.jpeg

The gut is very vulnerable to the presence of chronic stress. Diet and other lifestyle factors can greatly increase stress. When you are stressed the body redirects energy used for digestion, so the body can counter your stress response, which impairs digestive processes. Not only does stress affect the gut’s physiological function, but it has been shown to change the composition of the microbiome.

Exercise will help to improve balance and diversity and provide other health benefits, such as reducing your risk of cardiovascular disease.

Your gut is vulnerable to stress

Antibiotics

A dysbiotic or imbalanced microbiome may not perform vital functions such as nutrient supply, vitamin production or protection from pathogens, which can cause diseases.

Dysbiosis of the microbiome has been associated with many health problems and casually implicated in metabolic, immunological and developmental disorders. It has also been linked to susceptibility to the development of infectious diseases. Even short courses of widely used antibiotics can lead to longterm changes to the gut microbiome, so reducing your use of antibiotics will reduce your risk of dysbiosis.

Antibacterial soaps have also been found to have changed the gut microbiome and have also been found to contribute to antibiotic resistance.

public.jpeg

Many other medications can have negative impact on the gut health such as proton pump inhibitors, steroids, and NSAIDS (Non steriod anti- inflammatory drugs)

How to support and repair the microbiome

Remove sugar and processed foods from your diet-try a seven day sugar detox for an easy start. Refined carbohydrates, sugar and processed foods get absorbed quickly in your small intestine without any help from your microbes. That means your gut microbes stay hungry and they snack on the cells that line your intestines and can cause “leaky gut syndrome.”

The intestinal lining is meant to be a strong barrier between the gut and the rest of the body.

When food enters your bloodstream, causing your immune system to attack them and ultimately, your own tissues. This may lead to an inflammatory response.

Fermented Foods

Re-inoculate your microbiome by including fermented foods in your diet. Fermented foods seed your gut with healthy bacteria. Sauerkraut and Kimchi ( Cabbage) Kefir ( Milk) and Kombucha ( tea) are all fermented and rich in probiotics and prebiotics.

public.jpeg

Food supplements that support the gut

Fibre

Dietary fibre is important to many intestinal tract functions, including digestion and waste. Fibre is important for bacterial diversity of the gut microbiome. There are two kinds of fibre: soluble, which swells up and holds water, and insoluble which does not. Both types are beneficial. Soluble fibre is found, for example, in psyllium seed and insoluble in acacia gum. Flaxseed and hemp seed contain high levels of both soluble and insoluble fibre. Chia seeds are rich in fibre and also work as prebiotic, supporting the growth of probiotics in the gut.

public.jpeg

Probiotics

Numerous studies have shown how probiotics benefit and support the microbiome. Probiotics are often called “good” or “helpful” bacteria because they help keep your gut healthy. These bacteria are also known for their beneficial effects on the immune system and health. The term “pro” means “for” and “biotic” stands for “life”.

Lactobacillus

A member of the Lactobacillus genus of bacteria, Lactobacillus acidophilus is the best known beneficial gut bacteria. L. acidophilus is commonly found in food such as yoghurt and fermented soy products, such as miso and tempeh. It is one of the most commonly used probiotics. Different strains can help with diarrhoea and may help with people who can’t digest lactose, the sugar in milk.

Bifidobacterium

Another popular supplement also found in some dairy products, biofidobacterium may help ease the symptoms of irritable bowel syndrome (IBS) and many other conditions.

Bacillus Coagulans

Bacillus coagulans is used similarly to Lactobacillus and other probiotics as a “beneficial” bacteria to improve gut health and for general digestion problems.

Prebiotics

Prebiotics are different to probiotics- they are substances that may support the growth of “good” bacteria in the intestinal tract. They can be seen as a “fertiliser” to bacteria helping it to grow in the gut. Inulin is an example of a prebiotic often used to support gut health.

The Sacral Chakra

In terms of energy this chakra governs intimacy, emotions, passion and pleasure. When we suppress our emotions and don’t express how we feel this can cause problems in our gut. That funny butterfly feeling in your tummy. Your gut is communicating with you. It’s your intuition, we should be more in tune with the way we feel but this means sitting with our emotions, acceptance and knowing you are a creator we al have the power to transform. We can easily get caught up in the emotions of our past.

public.jpeg

On my own journey to healing my gut, I had to also do the inner work. Heal the inner child, find pleasure again, and feel completely worthy of a life full of passion and purpose.

We cant feel good all the time, happinesses is a pursuit. We have to cultivate self worth and self love. We have to be aware of what lights us up and what is taking us away from that.

You hold the key, keep going inward.

5 tips on how to stay healthy if you are an Empath

5 years ago I had never heard of Empath let alone find out I am one. We are the nice guys, who just want peace. Always there to lend a hand. But little did I know that was my biggest detriment.

Empaths have the ability to sense things, a strong intuition which can be their greatest ali if we allow it. Tuning in and going inwards is needed but Empaths are highly suggestible, that’s to positive and negative energies. Being grounded in our truth is necessary and critical for our growth and life purpose. I paid a high price to gain this knowledge, following my HIV diagnosis, I got to experience firsthand what it meant to be too focused on the higher chakras.

Empaths need to be grounded and most importantly movement. I remember in 2014 when I started weightlifting I felt so connected so in tune to everything. Naturally Empaths are connected to source that is a given, we were born with a negative ego, forever seeking validation from others and approval. The people pleasing is a common trait. When surrounded by fear based energy we sense it’s off but sometimes don’t want to offend so stick around. Our need to be liked trumps our own wellbeing sometimes.

These realisations have caused me to look hard, into every faucet of my life, from a young girl and every relationship I have had. It’s made me realise where I had been giving myself away so easily and the reason behind it, it makes sense that we naturally want to give, we just need to start with ourselves. Apart from my own story of experiencing a burnout I hear many stories of people with chronic illness, autoimmune and when you dig deep there’s trauma, there’s unforgiveness, theirs feelings of lack, regret, shame, resent, guilt. There’s no time to self care is a big one. But self care is essential if we want to live well. So in sharing this information I know it will help many people at least understand that wholeness is possible. If you are experiencing any kind of dis-ease it could be that you are an Empath. It could mean that you have given so much to the world and there’s nothing left to give to you. I want you to know that it’s possible to return to your highest glory.

If any of this information resonates then it’s likely your an Empath. Awareness is the first step to any healing, and technically if you are out balance because you are giving too much these steps are really going to help.

1. Get Grounded in your physical.

This is a must with no negotiations! Exercise is optional but movement is necessary. Find something that works for you, you are unique. I would definitely look into discovering your Dosha ( Ayurveda )

Understanding that I am Pitta dosha has helped me to understanding that my body needs cooling and calming. I do good with cycling and running anything where I am forced to focus on breathe. Getting oxygen into my body and pumping blood around. I love weights and pushing my body to extreme. I know what feels right for me.I have to exert my energy also because I have a Vata Mind. Constantly creating and sometimes it’s hard to shut off, just having exercise in my life keeps me more grounded in the physical, healthy mind, healthy body.

It’s really easy to take on other people’s energy as an Empath. After Reiki we are taught to wash our hands with cold water. I have been using cold showers recently also and really feel the difference especially because I practice the breathework. Breathework is a powerful tool to keep in my mind if you feel scattered in your energy. Being in nature is going to do wonders for your world. Increase foods that nourishes you and that are nutrient dense. It’s not about trendy diets it’s about listening to your own body which I will get into more later.

2.Have strong boundaries

The Empaths strong need to help combined with the desire to be accepted by the world is an opportunity for many people to take advantage. Narcissists love Empaths same way Empaths believe theirs a good soul in everyone, somewhere. When you step into your world each day picture yourself covered in a Rainbow cloak but it’s not thick, it’s transparent. Allowing the good energy in filtering out fear based energy.

Or you can use a zipping up technique, imagine a big zipper on your body keeping all your energy in so that it doesn’t leak. Always keep your energy in your heart, your focus on your own energy is primary. You cannot give to others if you are depleted. Don’t rush into help people based on emotions, say No and give yourself time to think things through. Empaths can feel obliged to help and particularly if it’s close friends, family. I adopted a small rule if you know they would definitely help you in need and have been there for you it’s something to consider. It’s easy to be taken advantage of if you are an Empath, your need to alleviate suffering is so strong. But you cannot help everyone and sometimes people need suffering as their teacher.

3. Just notice your feelings

Whatever they may be. Sometimes we just aren’t honest enough about the shitty feels everything has to be love and light when really we just want to scream our hearts out and tell someone to fuck off. It’s all ok, sometimes suppressing the negative emotions is way worse. I remember going through a difficult time, but really continuing with work and helping others when I should of admitted my suffering, got the help and support I needed. I thought I had to stay positive throughout my pain rather than acknowledge it and grow through it. I eventually dealt with my emotions but only because my body was screaming out to me what the fuck have you done. You can easily feel people’s pain as an Empath and the need to help can overtake your own needs. This is why stay grounded is essential and one way is to always really listen, the imbalance in the Sacral Chakra is being overactive and being over emotional and that can be taking on other people’s emotions as your own. There’s no doubt what I experienced was a complete body breakdown and burnout. I would never want anyone to experience that, limit what you see on Social Media, set up a timer like me because even social media and everyone sharing their lives we can absorb so much energy.

What do you watch?

What do you listen to?

Do you notice the things that drain you?

Who makes you feel good?

Who drains you the most?

It’s definitely not easy removing people from your life who you feel are draining you. These can be family members, even your own children. This is why self care and nurturing yourself is a high priority not a luxury but a necessity that needs to be included in your everyday life.

4. Listen to what you need.

Ok so earlier I mentioned being more in tune with what your body needs, this becomes easier the more still you are and less noise from the outside world. There are so many diets in the world but you are unique and something I share with my clients is bio individuality, one persons food is another persons poison. It’s not just about food, we spoke about movement in first step. But maybe you need an art hobbie, you might need a creative project, a home project.  You might have to dig into your passions, remember what lights you up and run for the hills. It took me a long time to get excited for the things that once brought me joy. But I remembered eventually and the trauma will be a distant memory, the HIV something I just needed to experience to fully understand wholeness.

If you’re life is becoming full of busyness and overwhelm, if your struggling with sleep and regular routine then take time to structure some real down time to recharge. Remember simple is best, don’t over complicate anything!

5. Stop overanalysing everything.

Stop looking for the reasons why things have happened. Whatever has happened, an illness, a break up, some kind of loss. Stop trying to predict everything and control every aspect of your life. Stop listening to the opinion of others. Just stop! Breathe. Hold your hand on your heart, go inwards what do you desire?

How do you really want to feel?

Many Empaths can lose themselves to others, we want to be liked, approved of, loved even. Your soul really does want to be expressed in this life. You won’t be liked by everyone and that’s ok. Loving yourself first is necessary and it’s not selfish.

Who would you be if you wasn’t afraid?

Do you listen to others rather than the calling of your own soul which is yearning to be expressed?

Your messages will never make you afraid, but you will be required to step up. And you can do it, and it’s going to be ok. You deserve to be who you are, not what other people want you to be.

Empaths tend to dim their light, they want to blend in with others who have dimmed their light. Rather than shine as they are, they shrink so as to not make others feel bad. It’s important to shine, you set an example and show a possibility for others.

Keep going in for your enquiries , because the answers are not out there. Don’t doubt your abilities, gifts, talents but conserve your energy wisely. Take as much time as you need, we have until forever.

Is jealousy blocking your success?

Jealousy affects our emotions but often enough we don’t actually realise jealousy is a choice. You have way more control than you realise about how you feel about an external event. You have in fact given it meaning.

Our lives are our creations, we get to choose how we feel, how we respond, who we want to be.

So why do we get jealous?

Jealousy is a choice. And if you change the way you think, jealousy goes away. Jealousy can only thrive if you give power to it and decide that there is a threat to your relationship with yourself or another being.

Jealousy shows up when we don’t know our worth, when we doubt ourselves, when we don’t trust our own ability’s and gifts when we have unrealised power. People who are vulnerable to jealousy tend to have a history of complex trauma/abandonment, they struggle with insecurity, have poor emotional management skills, and they tend to battle anxiety, depression, or both.Engulfed in a wave of jealousy, they are incapable of self-soothing or positive self-talk. They literally feel as though their lives are being threatened.

How to overcome jealousy

1. Identify that you have been jealous and reclaim your power

I have at times noticed where I have been jealous and realised my triggers. I usually reaffirm my worth and then celebrate instantly feel powerful. My upbringing meant that I wasn’t able to celebrate success in anyway because my mum had very strong jealous tendencies and we as children mimick that behaviour. I took back my power by realising I have inside my gifts to create a life I will love and nothing can stop me but me.

2. Change the way you see things.

Your point of view is everything. If you see a happy married couple and you are struggling in your relationship or you are single you might feel jealous but instead if you see it as an opportunity to celebrate love you will attract that energy into your own life. Same as when you see people who are successful in their careers.

3. Identify your core beliefs that cause an emotional trigger.

Maybe your strolling through the gram. You see a body you wish you had, someone with a thigh gap you would long for. You see people showing up and excited for life. Maybe you want that but you’re not quite sure how to get it. By judging it ( because you are) you are actually taking yourself further away from achieving it. Celebrating success and achievement means that there is now a possibility for it to exist in your reality.

4. Awareness is key.

It really does help us to see how we are sabotaging our own lives by looking at others as if what they have isn’t possible for us. For my clients I recommend journaling because when we have a thought it’s really good to dig deeper to see what’s buried underneath. Ultimately we don’t have what our hearts desire because we don’t feel worthy of it.

5. Control over where your attention goes.

Energy flows where your attention goes. So if you are judging and becoming jealous of the way people are choosing to live then it because your thoughts are on your external environment and not on your own garden. To really grow out here and live our best lives the attention needs to be on us. If someone living their truth upsets or offends you then you might have to dig deeper into your subconscious. Whatever we judge we block.

Really question your beliefs about success, power., and money. Ask yourself who am I not to be successful, when you dig deep you uncover great truths and this is key to unlocking the potential that lies within.

If you feel jealousy is stopping you from fully showing up to your life. Then book a consultation with me. I would love to help you get back into alignment and start removing the blocks that prevent you from success.

Healing the Sacral Chakra

The chakra system was first recognized in the Orient as the foundation of certain Hindu, Buddhist and Taoist teachings. The chakras form what these cultures call the anatomy of the human spirit.

The second chakra in our body is called Swadhisthana – in translation from Sanskrit, this means sweetness. It is also called the sacral chakra and is located at two fingers under the coccyx or tailbone.

The sacral chakra is responsible for movement, flow and pleasure. If your life lacks these things, it may be that your sacral chakra is blocked. The chakras represent the power centers of our bodies and are vertically aligned, from the base of the spine to the crown of the head.

What is Swadhisthana or the Sacral Chakra?

Swadhisthana is all about movement, flow, care, pleasure, sexuality, relationships, procreation. It represents the male and female valences of ourselves. It is about creating joy, happiness and loving relationships.

This energy centre stores desires, feelings and emotions . We haven’t been encouraged from a young age to follow our intuition, follow our passions. Often enough we have been told to suppress our emotions especially if you are a male. We are told not to cry, not to express ourselves publicly and to be ashamed of our own sexuality. All this suppressed energy remains stuck in the second chakra and causes imbalances.

Also, the sacral chakra hides the so-called “shadow“ or our dark side. In other words, all those things that we do not like about ourselves. However, they can never be completely eliminated and may continue to manifest in our lives in one way or another. “The Shadow” usually manifests itself in the faulty relationships we have or in all kinds of circumstances that repeat themselves over and over again.

When we begin to work on this chakra we will deal with all of our suppressed emotions. I learnt this whilst working through my chakras on my own healing journey. I had to face and accept my flaws and know that this also contributes to my whole self. When we understand this we find relief. Nobody is perfect.

How to Recognize if Your Sacral Chakra Is Blocked?

When your sacral chakra is balanced, you are a radiant, exuberant and uninhibited individual. You are full of creative energy and are spontaneous, free and happy.

However, when this chakra is unbalanced, you may experience the following symptoms:

• lack of creativity

• repetitive dysfunctional relationships.

You may have the same unpleasant experience over and over again.

• lack of motivation

• lack of sexual appetite

or unpleasant sexual intercourse

• emotional confusion

• you feel unimportant

• you think nobody loves you

• you think you are unaccepted

by those around you or by the society

• you think you do not know how

or you cannot take care of yourself

On the other hand, if your sacral chakra is too active, then you are a workaholic, dominant in relationships, greedy, obsessed with pleasure, addicted to all kinds of activities that you use as a substitute for love.

How to Heal Your Sacral Chakra

When we carry shame, guilt, resent it actually affects many of our chakras. The Sacral Chakra connects to the Heart Chakra. If you tend to hang or have your shoulders bent, it is very likely to be because of your unhealed sacral chakra. Trying to bring your shoulders to the front is an attempt to hide your chest or sexuality. It can also be a gesture to protect your heart chakra. If you straighten your shoulders and open your chest, your heart chakra would open and it would be too painful to bear all the unhealed pain.

So, in order to heal your sacral chakra, you should make few changes in your lifestyle:

Take care of yourself

Sleep enough, eat healthy foods and take longer showers if that helps you relax.

Try going to a spa once in a while.

Be understanding with yourself

Do not criticize every action you take.

Be near water

Either by the sea, river or lake – anything that has to do with water can be helpful.

Drink plenty of liquids

Drink water, fresh juices, soups.

Focus on your hobbies

These can be any activities that help you unleash the creativity inside you.

Make love in a tantric way

In other words, make love with lots of gentleness and attention.

In regards to sex, it’s good to regard it as something sacred. Heal or give up the toxic relationships. Don’t entertain one way relationships. If you maintain connections that do not support your growth this could be life draining for you. If there are unsolved issues or unsaid frustrations, be open and resolve them in a calm way.

Balance your masculine and feminine energies. You can try some techniques for balancing the masculine and feminine energies inside you. Yoga exercises that involve hip opening or hip rotation are excellent.

Put on your favourite music and dance, any kind of movement is great for this Chakra. You could also try a spontaneous dance where you let your body follow the rhythm of the music as it will help you release the blocked energies.
