Winter Solstice is upon us. So I wanted to share you the importance of this time, if you know me that you know I am always searching for the deeper meaning to life and our existence and as we are nature and what happens on the planet has a a profound effect on us, even if we lack awareness or understanding.
The winter solstice is the dance between the poles of light and dark: it is the shortest day of the year with the longest night.
This is our Yin season. A time for reflection, a representation of slowness and of course this is the cyclic return to the sun as the days get longer and the nights shorter. To summarise it's all about Rebirth and Renewal. Yin is Lunar, Yang is Solar and as humans we are constantly in between these two states with a stronger emphasis in each season.
I know its holiday season time and capitalism wants you to do the most but slowing is down is a sign of authority over your time, body and space and you have plenty of time to do the most as we approach Spring/Summer.
I want you to honour your Darkness
I want you to stand tall and strong in your Darkness like the barren tree who looks bare but is started to form buds.
The tree doesnt worry if it will bear fruit or flowers it's paused and exactly where it should be. Honouring your Winter/Darkness is also honouring the Light that's on the way.
And having preserved our energy in Winter we can move with grace, power and intention into the next season. I actually enjoy writing more in Winter, working on my Shadow, reflection of the year and lots of Yin Yoga to get deeper into my body. I just adore the deep introspection that Winter brings, and its definitely one to be celebrated instead of wishing it was Summer already, afterall we are composed of the cosmos itself, we can no longer hide or escape our connection to the rhythms of the Earth.
